Form completion is exactly how it sounds. You must have seen many forms for different sorts of registrations such as forms for a 🏋️‍♂️ gym, 🏥 hospital, or even ⚽️ sports.
This is exactly how it happens in IELTS Listening too. It checks your keen listening skills — whether you pay attention to the important details or not.
In this type of question, you listen to the audio with some details about a person, such as his/her name, address, contact number, or age. You have to remember those details and complete the form.

❓ HOW TO DO IT??

The given pieces of advice can be adopted while attempting this question type.

🔸 READ THE INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY
This is the most significant recommendation I would give to you. You are supposed to read the instructions below the question “carefully”.
🛑 For instance, if the direction is to write 1 word only, and you write 2 words instead, your answer can be considered as wrong and there is a high chance that you lose a score — even if the answer is right.

🔸 FOCUS ON THE TITLE
Titles are mostly there above the questions. They give you a clear idea of what the audio can be about. So you can understand the context better.
📌 If this question has a title at the top, do not miss it.
For instance, in the example below, the title has been mentioned which you can focus on.

🔸 ANSWER IN ORDER
🧭 The form completion question type works in a proper direction. Just as the audio would be in order, so would be the questions.
Hence, your answers should also be in order. This way, the flow keeps going on and you don’t miss out on any detail.

🔸 LOOK OUT FOR THE DISTRACTING CONTENT
It is important for you guys to listen consistently as well as closely, so that you can notice the distracting content in the audio.
⚠️ For instance, if the audio says,

“My friend’s favorite color is purple, but she is going to wear green for the party tonight.”
This way, you would know the exact answer.
🎯 So, keep looking out for the distractors.

🔸 HAVE A GUESS IF YOU AREN’T SURE OF THE ANSWER
I recommend you guys that you don’t leave the answer. If, somehow, you are unable to remember the correct answer, you can always presume the answer within the given context.
🤔 So, don’t worry if you mess up. You can have a wild guess and it will boost your confidence too — that you did not leave the answer blank.
